M.I.A.C. January Athletes of the Month

Huron Valley Lutheran

Ashley Beeskow, Huron Valley Lutheran, Junior, Basketball

Ashley has been a key asset on the offensive end of the floor for the Hawks in January.  Ashley had a game high 24 points in a win over Livonia Clarenceville, and 19 points in a win over Lutheran High Westland.

Kyle Ohlsson, Huron Valley Lutheran, Junior, Basketball

Kyle has been a key leader on the court for the Hawks in the month of January.  Kyle has led the team in scoring, with a game high 33 points in a win against Lutheran High Westland.


The Roeper School

Sophia Salinas, The Roeper School, Sophomore, Basketball

Sophia has had a tremendous January, averaging 15.8 points per game while leading the team to an 8-3 record on the season.

James Drake, The Roeper School, Junior, Basketball

James leads the Roughriders with an average of 10.2 points per game.


Plymouth Christian Academy

Hailey Maulbetsch, Plymouth Christian Academy, Senior, Basketball

Hailey had a great month, helping lead her team have an undefeated record so far in conference play this season. She also eclipsed 1000 career points in PCA’s home win vs Lutheran Northwest on January 10th! Great job Hailey!

Noah Etnyre, Plymouth Christian Academy, Senior, Wrestling

Noah has had quite the month! First, he got his 100th career win in the January 7th Warrior Invitational, took first in the Lincoln Park Invitational on January 16th, took 2nd in the January 21st Hudson SUPER 16 Invite, and then helped the warriors win the MIAC conference wrestling meet on January 28th where he was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler for the league. Great Job Noah!!


Southfield Christian School

Rachel Cairo, Southfield Christian, Senior, Girls’ Basketball

Rachel is averaging 18.2 points per game in January to lead the Eagles in scoring.  She recently became the 3rd player in school history to eclipse the 1,000-point mark in a career and she is on track to become the program’s all-time leading scorer as she is just over 100 points away from the record.


Justin Bryant, Southfield Christian, Sophomore, Boys’ Basketball

Justin is averaging 15.3 points and 11 rebounds in the month of January.  In the team’s five conference games, he has averaged 17.8 points and 13.2 rebounds per game.  He had a monster game in a win over Parkway Christian with a career-high 26 points and 17 rebounds.  He followed that game up with a 19-point performance with a school-record 23 rebounds in a win over Clarenceville.


Whitmore Lake

Adriana Canter, Whitmore Lake, Senior, Basketball

During the month of January (8 games), Adriana has accumulated 116 pts (14.5 average) and 70 rebounds (8.7 average).

Tristan Clay, Whitmore Lake, Senior, Wrestling

19-2 overall record during the month of January.  He placed 1st at the Napoleon Tournament, 2nd at Dansville, and went undefeated at the MIAC Championship meet.
